A destination beach wedding… just the words invite you to dream up a perfect day. Beautiful skies, stunning water, white sands and two people in love surrounded by those who love and support them the most. Janna & Jason experienced every bit of that on their wedding day at the Sirata Beach Resort. When I arrived there was a lot of laughter that filled the bride’s room as she was getting her final touches done. I watched Janna interact with her wedding party and step-daughter, and I realized that she is truly surrounded by people that love & adore her…and that this is because she truly loves and adores them! That is such a blessing in and of itself. I knew then, without even having met Jason yet, that he would be the same. I was right. Together, they are the most loving parents, they went out of their way to include…no, to share their wedding day with Jason’s kids. After all, this was a special day for all of them. They really could not have had a more beautiful day, it was so perfect. The wedding decor & set up was stunning, Stephanie Voth Events did a beautiful job, […]

I was there when they were married on the stunning Florida beaches, and I was beyond thrilled to receive the email that they were expecting. You see, I love photography, it’s my true passion. But just as equally I love getting to know my clients, and building relationships with them. It’s the most amazing honor to be present for any one special moment in life, but to be invited back to capture even more of their life… well that leaves me speechless. It’s probably my favorite thing about what I do, I love watching my clients grow their families and experience life. Many of my closest friends started as a one time client that blossumed into many years of beautiful memories made & captured. So as you can imagine, photographing this maternity session has such a special meaning to me. I watched two become one, and now I watch as they become three. Tara & Ken, I’m beyond thrilled for your family! Congrats!

Such an incredible day! The weather was beautiful, the skies a stunning shade of blue. The guests chattering, and the wedding party full of laughter. Amanda and Jackson chose the Lion’s club for their special day. I love this venue, the secluded ceremony location nestled on the white sand, between trees creates the perfect intimate beach atmosphere that many other venues just cannot offer. And their ceremony was perfect, music played by friends of the bride & groom played as Amanda walked down the aisle…guided by both her mother and father while Jackson stood at the arbor, and couldn’t help but smile as he watched her. There ceremony was beautiful, meaningful and the perfect moment shared by them and their guests. A moment that they will remember forever. As the reception kicked off, I knew quickly it was going to be a fun night. The mother of the groom and the father of the bride were the first on the dance floor. Soon after the dance floor was packed, and it stayed that way all night long! Take a look at their perfect wedding day! As I finish up the editing for Joanna & Phil’s wedding, I just wanted to take a second and share this for them & their guests. It was such a beautiful day to remember, and I hope they will forever enjoy and love their images. Photographing weddings is such a joy to me. It’s so personal, and it has so much meaning. When I look at photographs I can hear the laughter, the funny jokes, or the sweet whispers. That’s exactly what happens as I go through Joanna & Phil’s images. I remember the laughter as Joanna was getting her dress on and the nerves & excitement just before the first look, and the relief & love shared in the moments just after. They were surrounded by so many people who love & support their marriage, and because of that I know that they will be looking through their wedding photos in 30 years laughing & smiling as they remember their day!

You know, as time goes by I still do one thing after every single wedding, something that I have done for 7 years. After each wedding, I take a second and think… “What will I always remember about this wedding?” For Amanda & Stephen’s wedding, I’ll remember that because they are both such amazing people, they have surrounded themselves with the love and support of so many people. Life time friendships were on full display throughout their wedding day, and that to me is such a beautiful thing. Marriage is filled with both exciting and happy moments, but also with moments that are less easy, rough days, or bumpy roads. It’s during those times that having such an invaluable support system will prove to be such a blessing. In those times when you turn to your friends and family for support, they will build you back up and they will turn you back towards the one you love so much. This is something to be treasured! Amanda & Stephen’s wedding day was beautiful. The Oxford exchange, a European-inspired venue was the perfect fit for their celebration. The wedding party filled the halls with the sound of laughter as they finished getting ready. Amanda & […]

Jamie & Ryan’s wedding | Mirror Lake Lyceum | St Pete wedding photographer

In some places, January 21st might be a very cold day, there might even be snow. But not in Florida! Jamie & Ryan’s wedding day was beautiful, beautiful skies, fluffy white clouds and even a little breeze…okay, maybe a lot of breeze! But that’s okay, because their wedding was inside of the gorgeous Mirror Lake Lyceum. Overlooking Mirror Lake, you can’t help but to be wow’d from the moment you enter the doors, and begin exploring this stunning building dating back to 1926. The Event Manager walked us through, showing us some of the most well known spots, and I was truly excited each time I began down another hallway, or up another staircase. Never knowing what I would find around the corner. I swear, if your a person who counts their steps and flights of stairs, this venue is totally for you! haha. Anyhow, the Mirror Lake Lyceum was the perfect compliment to Jamie & Ryan’s purple and gold wedding decor. The bride and her bridesmaid’s arrived first, and immediately filled the halls with laughter and excitement. Photographing them was not only easy, it was so much fun. We laughed a lot, and immediately I realized how beautiful these friendships were, some […]

Kelsey & Gary’s DIY Barn wedding | Lange Farm | Tampa wedding photography

The Lange farm has to be one of my favorite venues. A beautiful farm covered with stunning trees. The barn is nestled in the back, blue with white trimming and lights strung over the outdoor reception space. Guests took a short walk down a path way and found the ceremony under a beautiful tree with hanging lanterns. Kelsey and Gary had a beautiful ceremony, together with Kelsey’s adorable son, they had a little sand ceremony just before saying their vows, and before the became husband and wife! At the reception the guests ate the most amazing BBQ food, catered by Hungry Harry’s . If you haven’t had it, you simply have to try! The rest of the night was spent dancing, laughing, and even singing. Everyone had the most amazing time, and there was absolutely no shortage of fun!!!! There are so many beautiful moments in our lives. Sometimes fleeting, and sometimes the most memorable, eventful moments are ones that can be enjoyed and celebrated not just for the 9 months that you are creating your baby, but also for many, many years after. I really love having the opportunity to capture these moments. I love helping my clients create the look for their session, from flowing dresses on the beach, to lace & frills in your home, and even glitz & glam… your photos should reflect your style and the way you are feeling during this time in your lives. I was so excited to capture this moment for Julia and Brandon, after having captured their engagement photos, and their wedding, I certainly could not have felt more honored! So here it is, Julia & Brandon in Old Hyde Park.

Unplugged wedding… Do or don’t?
November 28, 2016 by essentiaphotography in wedding guide 0 Comments

This has become a widely debated topic. Technology has become so mainstream that anyone, and I do mean anyone, or maybe everyone has access at all times to some form of device…even during your wedding. I see both sides of this argument. On the one side, your guests are coming from near and far to celebrate this special day, and in a time when every single moment of our lives are captured and shared on social media…of course your wedding would make the top of this list. As a photographer, I get that! But let’s take a stroll down the other side of the theory. It’s my job to see what is going on during your wedding and too many times I have seen parents, grandparents, family and friends fidgeting with their phones, ipads or camera. They can’t get the settings right, the flash won’t go off, or the battery is dying. Meanwhile, the bride and groom are laughing because the bride can’t get the ring to go on the grooms finger or your fiance just whispered to you that he loved you while the officiant was talking about the keys to a long and happy marriage. But they didn’t […]
