As I finish up the editing for Joanna & Phil’s wedding, I just wanted to take a second and share this for them & their guests. It was such a beautiful day to remember, and I hope they will forever enjoy and love their images. Photographing weddings is such a joy to me. It’s so personal, and it has so much meaning. When I look at photographs I can hear the laughter, the funny jokes, or the sweet whispers. That’s exactly what happens as I go through Joanna & Phil’s images. I remember the laughter as Joanna was getting her dress on and the nerves & excitement just before the first look, and the relief & love shared in the moments just after. They were surrounded by so many people who love & support their marriage, and because of that I know that they will be looking through their wedding photos in 30 years laughing & smiling as they remember their day!

You know, as time goes by I still do one thing after every single wedding, something that I have done for 7 years. After each wedding, I take a second and think… “What will I always remember about this wedding?” For Amanda & Stephen’s wedding, I’ll remember that because they are both such amazing people, they have surrounded themselves with the love and support of so many people. Life time friendships were on full display throughout their wedding day, and that to me is such a beautiful thing. Marriage is filled with both exciting and happy moments, but also with moments that are less easy, rough days, or bumpy roads. It’s during those times that having such an invaluable support system will prove to be such a blessing. In those times when you turn to your friends and family for support, they will build you back up and they will turn you back towards the one you love so much. This is something to be treasured! Amanda & Stephen’s wedding day was beautiful. The Oxford exchange, a European-inspired venue was the perfect fit for their celebration. The wedding party filled the halls with the sound of laughter as they finished getting ready. Amanda & […]

Jamie & Ryan’s wedding | Mirror Lake Lyceum | St Pete wedding photographer

In some places, January 21st might be a very cold day, there might even be snow. But not in Florida! Jamie & Ryan’s wedding day was beautiful, beautiful skies, fluffy white clouds and even a little breeze…okay, maybe a lot of breeze! But that’s okay, because their wedding was inside of the gorgeous Mirror Lake Lyceum. Overlooking Mirror Lake, you can’t help but to be wow’d from the moment you enter the doors, and begin exploring this stunning building dating back to 1926. The Event Manager walked us through, showing us some of the most well known spots, and I was truly excited each time I began down another hallway, or up another staircase. Never knowing what I would find around the corner. I swear, if your a person who counts their steps and flights of stairs, this venue is totally for you! haha. Anyhow, the Mirror Lake Lyceum was the perfect compliment to Jamie & Ryan’s purple and gold wedding decor. The bride and her bridesmaid’s arrived first, and immediately filled the halls with laughter and excitement. Photographing them was not only easy, it was so much fun. We laughed a lot, and immediately I realized how beautiful these friendships were, some […]

Kelsey & Gary’s DIY Barn wedding | Lange Farm | Tampa wedding photography

The Lange farm has to be one of my favorite venues. A beautiful farm covered with stunning trees. The barn is nestled in the back, blue with white trimming and lights strung over the outdoor reception space. Guests took a short walk down a path way and found the ceremony under a beautiful tree with hanging lanterns. Kelsey and Gary had a beautiful ceremony, together with Kelsey’s adorable son, they had a little sand ceremony just before saying their vows, and before the became husband and wife! At the reception the guests ate the most amazing BBQ food, catered by Hungry Harry’s . If you haven’t had it, you simply have to try! The rest of the night was spent dancing, laughing, and even singing. Everyone had the most amazing time, and there was absolutely no shortage of fun!!!! There are so many beautiful moments in our lives. Sometimes fleeting, and sometimes the most memorable, eventful moments are ones that can be enjoyed and celebrated not just for the 9 months that you are creating your baby, but also for many, many years after. I really love having the opportunity to capture these moments. I love helping my clients create the look for their session, from flowing dresses on the beach, to lace & frills in your home, and even glitz & glam… your photos should reflect your style and the way you are feeling during this time in your lives. I was so excited to capture this moment for Julia and Brandon, after having captured their engagement photos, and their wedding, I certainly could not have felt more honored! So here it is, Julia & Brandon in Old Hyde Park.

Unplugged wedding… Do or don’t?
November 28, 2016 by essentiaphotography in wedding guide 0 Comments

This has become a widely debated topic. Technology has become so mainstream that anyone, and I do mean anyone, or maybe everyone has access at all times to some form of device…even during your wedding. I see both sides of this argument. On the one side, your guests are coming from near and far to celebrate this special day, and in a time when every single moment of our lives are captured and shared on social media…of course your wedding would make the top of this list. As a photographer, I get that! But let’s take a stroll down the other side of the theory. It’s my job to see what is going on during your wedding and too many times I have seen parents, grandparents, family and friends fidgeting with their phones, ipads or camera. They can’t get the settings right, the flash won’t go off, or the battery is dying. Meanwhile, the bride and groom are laughing because the bride can’t get the ring to go on the grooms finger or your fiance just whispered to you that he loved you while the officiant was talking about the keys to a long and happy marriage. But they didn’t […]

Wedding day timeline
November 27, 2016 by essentiaphotography in wedding guide 0 Comments

When you envision your wedding day, what do you see? Do you picture your morning calm & relaxing? Or filled with laughter & bridesmaids? Who is there when your dress is buttoned up, and what does the moment look like when your daddy sees you all dressed up and ready to be walked down the aisle? Everyone’s vision is just a little different, and I love to hear what moments are important to you. These are the moments that will create your wedding day memories, and that is why I love this conversation. When we meet to discuss your timeline, we will talk about what is important, what moments will have special meaning, who you want to have photos taken with, and what your expectations are for your wedding day, and for me.  Making this come to life is why I believe that wedding day timelines are so incredibly important. In fact,  I would be willing to suggest that a well thought out timeline is the key to having a stress-free, memorable wedding day. Creating enough time in the right places will help you enjoy your wedding experience, you will be able to capture the moments you want captured, while creating buffer time is […]
